I took this shot earlier this morning as I walked down Broadway. I guess one might place it in the category of "stolen pictures" as the subject had no idea that I was taking his photograph, I don't even think he was aware of my presence. I was struck by the man's face and his his stance. As I saw the image in my mind I had no doubt that this was to be a B&W image. In fact I knew as I shot it that I would process it as I normally do for most of my B&W's but that I would also add one of my very favorite grain actions. The inspiration, if you will, for the look and feel of this image mostly comes from Don McCullin's B&W work, especially his work in England. There's a good interview here with Mr. McCullin.
