As I was waiting for my wife one day last week I re-read a few pages from one of my favorite books.
The mind's eye, by Henri Cartier-Bresson. It was interesting to read again the passages and thoughts that I had previously marked in pencil, and there are more than a few. The following comment is one that I often think about.
"People think far too much about techniques and not enough about seeing."
How true, I would add that many people spend far too much time thinking, debating, even arguing about the equipment they own or plan to own as soon as the next "gee-whiz-gotta-have-that-don't-know-how-people-ever-photographed-anything-without-it" gizmo becomes available.
So the point of today's wee rant is?
Perhaps it is merely a suggestion to spend a little less time debating the merits of manufactures' new toys and go out and "see".
